Project Overview
The site was home to a derelict school which was segregated and demolished during the first 24 weeks of our programme. This reduced on-site space and posed logistical challenges for material storage and working areas which was mitigated using more just-in-time deliveries and renting adjacent land to site our compound, welfare and car parking.
Our work included two Section 278 highway bellmouths at opposite ends of the site connected by 400m of Section 38 adoptable estate roads and footways along with shared drives.
We constructed new adoptable Section 104 foul and surface water drainage, up to 450mm diameter with 144m3 of below ground attenuation and plot groundworks for 60 semi-detached and terraced 2-4 bed houses.
The topology was steeply sloping which required the construction of 1362m of retaining walls up to 5m high, including a 129m long x 5m high Tobermore system with concrete backfill.
